OREANDA-NEWSThe sculptor Zurab Tsereteli opened the composition “Peter the Great” in a residential complex in the Savelovsky district of the capital. This was told by his assistant Sergi Shagulashvili.

“Today was the opening, just recently,” said assistant to Zurab Tsereteli.

RIA Novosti, citing a reporter, reports that a six-meter-high bronze sculpture is installed in the center of the courtyard area of ​​the residential complex.

During the opening, Tsereteli said that he was looking forward to the opinion of the townspeople about the sculpture. "If you like, I will continue, because I still have ideas for this wonderful area," the sculptor assured.

In February, the RG-Development company, which built the Petrovsky Park residential complex, announced that a monument to Peter I by Tsereteli would be erected on the territory of the residential complex. Then the press service explained that the opening would be timed to coincide with the 350th anniversary of the birth of the emperor in 2022. The presentation of the sculptural composition "Peter the Great" took place in February this year. As the Russian Academy of Arts specified, it was decided to erect the monument on Yunnatov Street.

This is the second monument to Tsereteli, dedicated to Peter I. The first was created by order of the government of the capital, it was opened in 1997.
