OREANDA-NEWS. Russian specialists will develop a "time capsule" service using blockchain technology to transfer digital information to their heirs; the project will be presented at the intensive courses "Archipelago 2121" in Veliky Novgorod, the press service of the National Technology Initiative Platform told RIA Novosti.

"Russian developers are creating a 'time capsule' service using blockchain technology. It will allow secure storage of digital data and assets - from passwords for social networks to keys to bitcoin wallets - and transfer them years later to their heirs," the message says.

The project manager Dmitry Izvekov, whose words are quoted in the text, noted that at the moment a project website is being created, on it users will be able to store all the necessary information in encrypted form with the condition of transferring it to specific persons after a certain period (at least 6 months) The development is carried out by a team from MEPhI, MGIMO and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The press service notes that in addition to passwords, photos, texts, video messages or coordinates of the location of valuable things can be placed in the "time capsule" in order to pass them on to inheritance. The user sends the link to the "capsule" to the recipient, who must create a personal account on the service website. The "time capsule" itself will open only on the specified date.

The encrypted data will be stored on SberCloud and duplicated on DropBox and other sites; it is planned to attract 2-3 million rubles to create a project. Sending the first two capsules, according to the developers, will be free, monetization is planned due to the future popularity of the service and additional services.
