OREANDA-NEWS. Becker Professional Education, a global leader in professional education and part of DeVry Education Group, announced today a new partnership with the Chicago Medical Training Center (CMTC). A quality medical education provider, CMTC develops domestic and international physicians-in-training into doctors. The Center will now, in conjunction with Becker, offer USMLE® preparation courses enabling medical students to have access to efficient, comprehensive training and study options in one centralized location.

CMTC’s 40,000-square-foot main facility, located in the South Side of Chicago, houses lecture rooms, Clinical Skills facility, an auditorium, simulation center, library and more. In addition, CMTC provides more than 20,000 hours of clinical clerkships a year through agreements it has in place for its students, who can partake in classes and clinicals with thousands of physicians at more than a dozen facilities throughout the city.

Becker Professional Education, an official exam review provider for the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), will now bring its comprehensive approach, prominent professors and innovative technology to CMTC’s facility and students allowing them, for the first time, to combine Becker’s USMLE preparation with CMTC’s clinical clerkship rotations.

“At Becker we are always looking to make advancements that ensure our medical students have access to the best resources in order to succeed on the USMLE,” said David Bartholomew, vice president of healthcare at Becker Professional Education. “Our partnership with CMTC allows us to provide another level of preparation by layering in their clinical training with Becker’s high quality USMLE exam prep.”

“Aligning with Becker will allow our medical students to fully maximize their training and USMLE preparation time by creating an all-encompassing, yet compact schedule with rotations in the morning and exam training and preparation in the afternoon,” said Dr. Youssef Majed, co-founder and chief operating officer of CMTC.

The primary goal of Becker and CMTC’s partnership is to provide medical students with a centralized study hub in an effort to best prepare them for their USMLE and ensure they can remain competitive in the National Residency Matching Program® (NRMP®). The matching process continues to be highly competitive as the number of residency slots has not kept pace with the number of students who have graduated in recent years from medical school. In the most recent cycle, 42,370 registered applicants, the highest number ever, competed for 30,750 positions, according to the National Resident Matching Program®. Succeeding on the USMLE Step 1 is a critical step in becoming a doctor for all medical students.
