The Doctor Spoke about the "Silent Pneumonia" in Russians Infected with Coronavirus
OREANDA-NEWS. Director of the Research Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections Georgy Vikulov said that the number of patients with lung damage due to coronavirus has recently doubled. At the same time, the infected person may not notice that he has pneumonia. His words are quoted by REN TV.
The doctor drew attention to the fact that one of the alarming signs of COVID-19 disease is respiratory problems, but as long as there is no pronounced shortness of breath, the patient may not feel anything.
“There are so-called silent pneumonia, lung damage in COVID-19,” he said.
According to Vikulov, the incubation period for a sick person usually lasts from two days to two weeks. At the same time, after the appearance of a more infectious "delta" strain, it decreased to three to four days. The Indian strain is a more severe form of coronavirus, which means that the area affected by a person's lungs can increase significantly in a fairly short time.
Earlier, the director of the Scientific Information Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Viral Infections said that hot weather not only does not have a deterrent effect on the spread of a new coronavirus infection, but also worsens the course of the disease, and also increases the risk of intoxication.
