OREANDA-NEWS  Bone health can deteriorate in the absence of adequate amounts of vitamins, proteins, minerals, and exercise. To reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis, experts advise adding natural yogurt to the diet. Scientific modeling by the British Nutrition Foundation has shown that daily consumption of this product can increase calcium levels.

Some yoghurts can be fortified with vitamin D and also contain iodine, potassium, phosphorus and B vitamins as “MedicForum” reports.

Another important mineral that helps maintain healthy bones is magnesium. This substance is believed to help control the hormone PTH which is produced by the parathyroid gland. It maintains calcium levels in the body and prevents bone breakdown.

Green leafy vegetables, including kale, spinach, and romaine lettuce are excellent sources of magnesium. It is should also be added nuts such as Brazilian nuts, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, and hazelnuts to your diet. In addition, these foods are able to provide the body with calcium.
