OREANDA-NEWS. According to cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov, air escapes through the transition chamber. At the International Space Station in the service module "Zvezda", where the scientific equipment is located, they are looking for a new place of air leakage, RIA Novosti reports.

“We practically do not understand in which part of the transition chamber we still have an additional leak. We are now losing a safety reserve for gases and will have to solve this problem in the near future,” said the specialist of the flight control center to cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov.

The astronauts were asked to help narrow the area where the leak was searched by placing bags and blankets at various locations in the intermediate chamber.

An air leak at the station was recorded in September 2019. In August-September 2020, after its speed had increased fivefold, the crew twice closed the hatches in the ISS modules to check their tightness and was isolated for several days in the Russian segment of the station.

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, American astronauts Kathleen Rubins, Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover and Shannon Walker, as well as the Japanese Soichi Noguchi are currently working on the ISS.
