OREANDA-NEWS. Fresh radish will soon appear on Russian beds. Many people grow it in the country, but you can even grow it in an apartment. This root vegetable is appreciated not only for its taste, which will add spice to salad or okroshka, but also for its health benefits.

In an interview with Radio Sputnik, nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg said: "First of all, radishes, like all crucifers, have anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects. And since inflammation is the basis of all age-related diseases, the consumption of radishes generally slows down the aging process."

Ginzburg drew attention to the fact that radish should be used with caution. You should not eat it for those who have problems with the gastrointestinal tract - ulcers, gastritis, and other stomach diseases. This root vegetable contains substances that irritate the mucous membranes, so it is not recommended to eat it before dinner, it is better to leave it for later.

"Also, in the presence of diseases, it is better to use it with something emollient, such as butter or sour cream," the doctor advised.

Those who have low acidity, on the contrary, can eat radishes on an empty stomach: this will help improve the secretion of gastric juice and digestion.

When choosing a radish, you need to look so that the fruit is dense, not springy when pressed. If the tuber is stratified, it means that the radish is old.
