OREANDA-NEWS. In recent years, more and more people have come to the conclusion that sugar, baked goods and white bread should be limited in their diet. Advanced youth are increasingly opting for sugar-free drinks, gluten-free bread, and brown rice instead of the usual white. There are several reasons for this.

Refined and processed foods are, for the most part, the cause of many serious diseases. Catherine Zeratsky of the American Dietetic Association confirms these arguments. Diabetes, obesity, cancer and cardiovascular disease - this is not a complete list of what the regular use of refined foods leads to.

The easiest way to find out if a particular product is refined or not is to look at its color. The largest group of refined foods is white: sugar, flour, rice. This also applies to refined oils.

If there is a desire to get all the necessary vitamins and minerals from food, and not from dietary supplements, the best solution would be to purchase not white, but brown or wild rice, as well as bread made from wholemeal flour or with bran.

Refined foods, in addition to lack of nutrients, have another negative side. Leaving only the core of the grain, industrial production turns complex carbohydrates into simple ones. And simple carbohydrates, as you know, are deposited on the belly and sides by fat folds, and also sharply raise insulin levels. The latter is fraught with obesity, the development of diabetes, the growth of benign and malignant tumors.
