OREANDA-NEWS. Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for research at the Research Institute of Epidemiology of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare, suggested that in a couple of weeks, Russians will face a new surge in the incidence of coronavirus.

In his opinion, the projected increase in morbidity is associated with the incubation period of infection.

He noted in his interview to Rossiyskaya Gazeta that a similar situation had already been observed in September, when many returned to their offices from telecommuting, and children and students began full-time studies.

Alexander Gorelov believes that something similar is happening now. After a long vacation, which many have spent in the countryside, people return to their offices. And the children will soon go to school. All this leads to an increase in contacts and, as a result, a surge in morbidity.

According to the expert, wave-like fluctuations during the spread of the virus are a standard picture. Moreover, the population immunity in the country is just being formed.

That is why experts are sure that sanitary standards should not be neglected now. We must continue to wear masks and keep our distance.
