OREANDA-NEWS  The results of the recent study by specialists from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center have appeared in the internet. It turned out that people who are genetically predisposed to high eye pressure (IOP) should be wary of excessive consumption of coffee.

The fact is that in their case, consuming large amounts of caffeine increases the risk of glaucoma. Moreover, the risk of developing the disease is about three times higher than that of ordinary people.

Thus, the consumption of about three cups of coffee a day, in the case of people predisposed to the disease, increased the risk of glaucoma by 3.9 times. The comparison was made with those subjects who either consumed the minimum amount of the drink or did not drink it at all.
