OREANDA-NEWS. Compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 should in no case be canceled either in the world or in Russia. This was stated by the immunologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov, reports "Moscow 24". According to him, it is possible to cancel vaccination and all restrictions even now, but in the future one should not be surprised by new outbreaks of the disease.

It is necessary to maintain the level of herd immunity. Now it is falling, according to official data, it is 53%. In the country, I think, it will continue to decline due to low rates of vaccination and due to the fact that people are not revaccinated and do not go to be vaccinated after an illness, the immunologist noted.

Kryuchkov added that one day COVID-19 vaccination will turn into a seasonal one, but now this is out of the question, since the pandemic is still ongoing. Before the transition to seasonal vaccination takes place, it will take about two more years, but today it is better not to ignore the vaccine and do it regularly so that herd immunity does not decrease, the expert believes.

Now there will be a transition to a subacute form, that is, more manageable, but if you approach it with your head, and not cancel everything in a row and stop tracking. Otherwise, everything can again go into an acute phase,” Kryuchkov emphasized.

Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, said that it was too early to talk about the end of the coronavirus pandemic. According to him, in many countries, on the contrary, a new wave is beginning. The expert pointed out that Russia has a high mortality rate - more than 400 people a day.
