OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said on the Russia 24 TV channel that two strains of coronavirus, Omicron and Delta, are circulating in Russia, their ratio is 1 to 2.

“There is a risk of becoming infected with a more severe strain, it is high today,” he said.

Murashko also noted that currently about 190 thousand people in the Russian Federation are hospitalized with COVID-19.

“The absolute number of patients admitted to intensive care beds is also growing in absolute numbers, because the number of sick patients is still high,” the minister said.

According to him, doctors have changed the treatment protocols for the “omicron” strain of coronavirus, since a number of drugs turned out to be less effective in this type of infection. At present, it is planned to introduce a new version of the guidelines, which summarizes the experience of world practice in combating COVID-19.

Previously, Murashko said that those who had been ill with "omicron" faced with impaired hearing, smell, as well as problems associated with the nervous system.

Murashko advised to undergo revaccination against coronavirus every six months. Those who have been vaccinated and revaccinated in the past six months are more likely to tolerate Omicron mildly or asymptomatically, he said.
