OREANDA-NEWS Selfies can be helpful. That was decided by Canadian scientists, who introduced optical imaging technology that allows to measure blood pressure using self-portraits in social networks. Surprisingly, it works!

To determine blood pressure using new technology, you need to run the developed mobile application and use it to shoot a short video on a selfie camera. Further, the application will do everything for the doctor.

The program responds to light that is reflected from the skin of the face. Depending on the state of certain protein structures, the skin absorbs light differently. This principle allows you to determine the pressure.

Experts after the tests say that the accuracy of the method is high - it reaches 95 percent. The only negative is that the application was tested only on people with fair skin.
