OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2011. Members of the government of Azerbaijan, the winner of the 56th European song contest Eurovision 2011, have been involved in discussions on the choice of a venue for the Baku 57th Eurovision 2012.

Youth & sports minister Azad Rahimov says that today they are considering three projects for Eurovision 2012.

"The most interesting and main project is the one in the Seaside Boulevard or the State Flag Square. In this case, a new concert hall will be constructed. In case of this option, we can construct a building by modules and thereby meet deadlines," Rahimov said.

Another option is contest holding at the Heydar Aliyev Sports & Exhibition or at the Republican stadium Tofig Bakhramov.

"The Sports & Exhibition Complex has been repaired fully, and its capacity of 7,800 seats can be supplemented by another 1,000 ones,” Rahimov said.

In case the stadium is chosen a venue for the competition it is necessary to conduct a series of works.

"In particular, the stadium can be roofed," Rahimov said.

At the same time, the decision on the preparations for Eurovision 2012 has not yet been taken by the government.
