OREANDA-NEWS. September 9, 2011. The State Committee on Standardization, Metrology & Patents of Azerbaijan has resolved the problems associated with disruptions in operation of time standard.

SCSMP press service’s head Fazil Talibli says that time standard commissioned on 22 June 2011 on the Committee’s official website (www.azstand.gov.az) is broadcasted again.

"For some time there were problems in broadcasting time standard, relating to software and that led to the suspension of its transmission. To date, the standard broadcasting continues and is transmitted to the appropriate structures," Talibli said.

He added that changes are also being made to the design of the standard.

"The time standard will be shown on the site of the State Committee in the form of hours," Talibli said.

The time standard has been already bought from the SCSMP by the Baku Metro, CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) which have been already using the standard and are currently negotiating with the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology and three mobile operators.

The standard of time was purchased from British company Mikron, and the manufacturer of the time standard is U.S. company Fluke. The main purpose of the introduction of time standard is synchronization of time around the country and prevention of economic losses associated with time.

The new standard makes it possible to identify a further 14 units of time after the second, which means maximum definition of time. After installation is complete, the information on the standard time will be transferred to all relevant institutions in the country, whose activities are in some way connected with time.

Time standard is a measuring device used for reproduction, storing and transmitting units of time, approved as a source. A second is considered international time standard. In contrast to the standards of mass, length and other standards, time standard cannot be "felt" and controlled without devices, so the standards of time are usually quite complex devices.
