OREANDA-NEWS. January 05, 2012. Starting 1st of January this year, Resolution No. 1210 "On improvement of Social Protection of Citizens Affected by the Chornobyl Disaster" of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated November 23, 2011 has entered into force, aiming at improving the pension support in 2012 of people affected by the Chornobyl NPP Disaster.

For instance, average pension for participants in the rectification of the consequences of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant will grow almost twice thus constituting:

• for 1st group disabled people – 5,439.52 UAH (2442.98 for 2011)
• for 2nd group disabled people – 5,128.73 UAH (2195.21 for 2011)
• for 3rd group disabled people – 3,941.53 UAH (1421.61 for 2011).

It is the first time that guaranteed minimum payments have been introduced for disabled liquidators as a percentage of cost of living for incapacitated people (with the account for bonuses, increases, supplementary pensions, targeted financial aids, indexing sums and other payments above legally established pensions, except for pensions for special merits before Ukraine):

• for 1st group disabled people -2,399.70 UAH (1321.0 UAH for 2011)
• for 2nd group disabled people -2,147.10 UAH (1199.0 UAH for 2011)
• for the 3rd group disabled people - 1,894.50 UAH (1008.0 UAH for 2011)

It is also important that, if the cost of living is resized for the incapacitated people, benefits will increase.
