OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2012. An opening ceremony of several multi-storey modern apartment houses on Alisher Navoi Street took place in Tashkent on 27 December.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, civil society organizations, writers and artists, activists of local communities and the youth.

Speaking at the event, Tashkent city khokim (mayor) Rahmonbek Usmanov, chairman of the Tashkent city branch of the "Nuroniy" Fund Muhammadjon Zufarov, the national poet of Uzbekistan Mahmud Toir, judoka Rishod Sobirov and others noted that as a result of large-scale construction and the creative work under the leadership of President Islam Karimov in the years of independence, all regions of Uzbekistan, and particularly, Tashkent have been transformed and have become more beautiful. New enterprises, equipped with the most modern technologies, magnificent residential buildings, new educational and healthcare institutions, wide streets and avenues, bridges, shady gardens and parks have been built.

The Independence Square, "Uzbekistan" Palace of International Forums, "Marifat Markazi" building, consisting of  the National Library named after Alisher Navoi and the Palace of Symposium, Hazrat Imam complex, Amir Temur Square , "Bunyodkor" sports complex are a vivid proof of the works in this direction.

It should be highlighted that people’s interests are a priority in construction works in our country and in the capital. All necessary conditions for living, working, cultural recreation are created. As a result of planting chestnuts, pines, juniper, oak - trees, which clean the air and provide with  oxygen, the appearance of Tashkent has changed beyond recognition.

This is proved in 2012 ranking by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a sister organization of the authoritative British newspaper, where Tashkent is rated as one of the world's best cities for living conditions. This rating is based on criteria and indicators, as stability in the country, the level of health and education, infrastructure, and institutions of culture, environment, gardening areas and air quality, proximity to natural recreation areas, presence of cultural heritage sites, territorial and international transport links.

The residential complex on the Alisher Navoi street has been built, based on the idea and initiative of President Islam Karimov, by "Tashkent boshplanLITI" state unitary enterprise. The complex consists of eight 7-storey buildings for 320 flats. The first two floors of new houses are allocated social, cultural, commercial facilities.

On December 27, at the end of 2012 - the Year of the Family and on the eve of 2013 - the Year of the welfare and prosperity – the owners of new apartments celebrated housewarming.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan A.Ikramov.
