ARMZ takes part in the roundtable "Environmental aspects of uranium deposit development in the Trans-Uralian Region"
OREANDA-NEWS. At the invitation of the Government of Kurgan region, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. takes part in the roundtable “Environmental aspects of uranium deposit development in the Trans-Uralian Region”, which will be held at Kurgan State University (KSU) on December 6, 2017.
Among the participants of the event are officials of Kurgan region, leading research scientists of specialized universities and scientific organizations – Institute of Environmental Geoscience of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Seversk Technological Institute, Kurgan State University. etc., heads and scientists of JSC Atomredmetzoloto (The mining arm of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM), as well as students of the local scientific community.
Kurgan region is one of the three “uranium storages” of Russia, providing the raw material for the Russian nuclear industry (uranium mining is also produced in the Republic of Buryatia and Trans-Baikal Territory). JSC Dalur, which is part of the mining arm of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, leads mine development there.
“Environmental and radiation security during the exploitation of deposits is especially important for the population. Since the opening of the first deposit Dalmatovskoye in Kurgan region in 1979, there have been no emergency events arising from the activity of JSC Dalur. One of the important components of this is the use of downhole in-situ leaching method, which is safe for humans and the environment. The policy of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation is an informational openness, we consider that one of the important tasks is the provision of truthful and honest information on our activities to all parties concerned”, - noted the first Deputy Director General of JSC Atomredmetzoloto Viktor Svyatetsky.
At the roundtable meeting, Deputy Governor of Kurgan region and Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Eduard Gusev will make a report on the requirements for ensuring environmental security in the implementation of investment projects in the field of subsoil use. The reports will be delivered by Director of the St. Petersburg branch of Institute of Environmental Geoscience RAS Vyacheslav Rumynin, the honored geologist of the Russian Federation Anatoly Ladeyshchikov, the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Igor Solodov, the professor of STI NRNU MEPhI Mikhail Noskov and other well-known scientists.
