OREANDA-NEWS. ExxonMobil and Sun Centre Machinery Co. Ltd. are collaborating at K2016 to demonstrate a thin (30 micron) extreme performance film, which includes Exceed™ XP – when eXtreme Performance matters and Enable™ 4002 performance polymers, for collation shrink packaging, produce and bread bag films, and general liners at the Sun Centre booth (Hall 16/C60).

“The collaboration with Sun Centre provides solutions to film converters that prefer to run 3-layer coextrusion films on good quality, reasonably priced blown film equipment,” said Dirk Van Der Sanden, global processing and converting advisor, ExxonMobil Chemical. “The ability to process high performance, state-of-the-art polymers generates opportunities for these converters to tap into more premium markets.”

The blown film line features a high-performance SW-1800 double station fully automated turret gap winder capable of running thin (< 30 micron) films.

“The combination of ExxonMobil’s performance polymers and Sun Centre’s machinery technology delivers flexible packaging film solutions with extreme toughness and exceptional flex-crack resistance allowing for high packaging integrity,” said Amy Zhao, assistant to the general manager, Sun Centre Machinery Co. Ltd. “In addition, the high melt strength and improved bubble stability offers the potential to optimize machine performance and increase output.”

These new performance polymers are part of ExxonMobil’s commitment to helping customers achieve sustainable business growth. It is by sharing knowledge and working in collaboration across the value chain that creates differentiated solutions for applications where extreme performance matters.
