OREANDA-NEWS. Implenia has been contracted by Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) to redesign the latter’s headquarters in the centre of the city of Zurich. Over the course of the company history of Zurich, the headquarters at Mythenquai have changed time and time again. Today they comprise several buildings from various periods. Zurich staged a competition and drew up a design plan to achieve a holistic design approach for urban development. As total contractor, Implenia is implementing the winning project by Vienna architect Adolf Krischanitz and thereby helping to create a sustainable complex tailored to user needs.

The insurer’s new group headquarters will be built over the next several years on a plot covering some 10,000 m2. Implenia is putting up a new build as a replacement structure and restoring three listed buildings from the 20th century. They will be renovated and expanded to meet the future needs of the users. For the premium completion of the interior, the project incorporates the latest technology and its overall sustainability plan will meet the specifications of the 2000 Watt Society and of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The holistic new design creates optimum working conditions. Hans-Peter Bissegger, who leads the Quai Zurich Project for Zurich, had this to say: “Our intent is to give our employees the best possible working conditions. In Implenia, we are confident of having found a total contractor capable of executing such a complex construction project while satisfying high sustainability standards in the process.”

Besides the central location with its tough logistical demands, the historic preservation specifications pose a challenge. Implenia offers the comprehensive competency for this demanding project thanks to its concentrated expertise from different group divisions. Construction is scheduled to start at the beginning of May 2017. The work is expected to last until the spring of 2020.
