Mostotrest completes construction of Bor alternate bridge in Nizhny Novgorod

OREANDA-NEWS. Mostootryad-1, a regional branch of Mostotrest in Nizhny Novgorod, has completed construction of the Bor alternate bridge across the Volga. The new bridge with a total length of about 9 km is located downstream of the old bridge built in 1965.
The new bridge has been opened to traffic on July 31. Commissioning of the transport system of the new Borsky Bridge has become a significant event, helping to address transport bottlenecks of not only the city of Nizhny Novgorod, but also the region as a whole. Throughput capacity of the Nizhny Novgorod – Bor District route section has increased three-fold, with the new bridge taking over all Bor and Kirov-bound traffic. The old bridge continues to accommodate traffic moving in the opposite direction.
The project customer is the Nizhny Novgorod Government Agency "Chief Road Administration". The total cost of the project was RUB13 billion (including VAT), co-financed through the PLATON Government Facility.
The project was launched in 2013. As part of the project, Mostotrest has built road and bridge infrastructure, including a new two-lane bridge across the Volga with a length of 1.5 km, right- and left-bank approaches with a total length of 7.3 km, two floodplain bridges, a bridge across the Vezloma, and a split-level interchange in the village of Neklyudovo (including an overpass). In addition, two single-level interchanges and two pedestrian overpasses have also been built within the project.
The new bridge has become part of the R-159 Nizhny Novgorod-Shakhunya-Kirov Highway.
