OREANDA-NEWS  The analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a survey of the Russian market of used cars and calculated the income from their sale for the 5 months of 2017. By the results of the study, during this period, residents of our country spent 780 billion rubles on the purchase of used cars.

The leader by revenue in the secondary market is Japanese Toyota - during the reporting period, Russians bought cars with a mileage of this brand for more than 92 billion rubles. The second place in the rating is occupied by the domestic LADA (75 billion rubles), and the German Mercedes-Benz closes the top-three with a figure of about 57 billion rubles.

For the purchase of used Nissan cars, Russians spent 50 billion rubles for 5 months, slightly less for second-hand BMW models - 44 billion rubles. In the TOP-10 by the revenue there is Hyundai (41 billion rubles), Volkswagen (39 billion rubles), Ford (32 billion rubles), KIA (31 billion rubles) and Mitsubishi (30 billion rubles).

As analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted, a quarter of the total revenue in the Russian secondary market falls on the metropolitan regions. Thus, residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg (together with Moscow and Leningrad region, respectively) spent on cars with a mileage about 200 billion rubles in January-May.

Recall that earlier "AUTOSTAT" published data on revenue from sales of new cars in Russia, which for the period from January to May of this year was about 720 billion rubles. Apparently, Russians spend more for used cars than for new ones, as the secondary market is 4 times larger than the primary one.
