OREANDA-NEWS. The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) has applied to the US State Department with a request to recognize the Sputnik V vaccination certificates, the organization's president, Alexis Rodzianko, told Izvestia.

According to him, now a trip from Russia to the United States requires a visa, which “cannot be obtained now,” as well as an inoculation with a drug approved by the WHO or the American authorities.

“Therefore, we asked the US government to take other vaccines for business travel, including Sputnik V,” said Rodzianko.
The head of AmCham specified that the Foreign Ministry accepted the document for consideration.

The press service of the Ministry of Health told the newspaper that Moscow and Washington had already discussed the issue of mutual recognition of certificates in early October. As a result of the conversation, the Russian department sent a letter to the United States with a corresponding proposal.

At the beginning of last month, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, after a meeting with representatives of the United States in Geneva, said that all barriers to the recognition of the Sputnik V vaccine in WHO had been removed, and some administrative procedures remained.

Sputnik V is approved in 71 countries with a total population of four billion. The vaccine ranks second in the world in terms of the number of permits received. Its effectiveness was 97.6 percent based on the analysis of data on 3.8 million vaccinated Russians.
