OREANDA-NEWS. In case of transmission of the virus from person to person, a vaccine against bird flu can be created in Russia within 5-6 months. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Sergei Voznesensky, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University.

"If suddenly such variability occurs, we already have a well-developed algorithm on how to bring this vaccine to the consumer within literally 5-6 months. Because we redesign the influenza vaccine every year," Voznesensky said.

To clarify whether the Russians will be able to receive protection within six months in the event of the spread of bird flu, the infectious disease specialist said: "It is highly likely that this will be so. Moreover, the vaccine will most likely be registered not according to a simplified scenario, in the event of a threat of an emergency. But it is quite normal, because the flu vaccine has been known to us for a long time, and we rework it every year. "

Sergey Voznesensky also noted that the threat of the spread of bird flu in Russia is still insignificant. He explained that there are only a few people who have fallen ill with bird flu, and this infection has not been transmitted between people.
