OREANDA-NEWS. April 25, 2016. We’re excited to be named winner of a prestigious data center industry award! The DatacenterDynamics 2016 Award recognizes CenturyLink’s excellence and identifies one of our data center projects as the “the best of the best.” DatacenterDynamics, an established global source of news and insight on data centers, singled CenturyLink out from among many noteworthy submissions.

The DatacenterDynamics US & Canada Awards are part of a global program that provides worldwide recognition to outstanding individuals, teams and projects. In this competitive market, “there are few greater accolades than to be awarded one of these ‘Oscars’ through the rigorous judging of an independent panel of industry experts,” DatacenterDynamics states in a news release.

We are proud to be winner of the Energy Efficiency Improver’s award category for our efforts to improve energy efficiency at our Columbus, Ohio, data center.

Upgrading and replacing an existing cooling system using chiller-in-a-box technology yielded significant returns to the business and environment. It reduced power consumption of the cooling plant by more than 30 percent. The resulting reduction in electrical load for cooling was then made available to support customer critical IT loads, increasing power capacity available by 400 kilowatts. Additionally, a number of other benefits, including reduced noise levels, reduced equipment footprint enabling expansion within existing property and ease of use and maintenance of the system, were realized.

As the United States’ second largest retail colocation provider, the financial impact of significantly reducing cooling costs has an enormous impact on the bottom line. Through continual improvement and investment, CenturyLink strives to provide the most efficient solutions it can to benefit its clients and the environment.

This prestigious award builds on several other recent accolades CenturyLink has received for innovations in our data centers. We won a TMC InfoTECH Spotlight Data Center Excellence Award in January 2016, and in 2015, we won the Network World Asia Data Center Infrastructure Management Award.

CenturyLink is committed to operational excellence in all our data centers, and we are the first company to pursue Uptime Institute's Management & Operations Stamp of Approval at the global portfolio level. The majority of our data centers have already achieved the Stamp of Approval, andthe remainder should be completed by the end of 2016.

Congratulations to our Columbus, Ohio, data center team for this excellent recognition of their hard work.
