OREANDA-NEWS. Jacobs Engineering Group Inc (NYSE:JEC) announced today its appointment by Highways England to develop preferred options for multiple highways schemes planned in the east, southeast and northwest regions of England, United Kingdom.

Jacobs is providing engineering design services for civil engineering works and traffic technology, surveys, stakeholder engagement, environmental services, traffic modeling, building information modeling (BIM) and principal designer services under the Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations. The stage two options development work includes the following schemes:

  • East region: A428 (Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet), A12 Chelmsford to A120 (Junction 19 to 25) and M11 Junction 7 Upgrade;
  • Southeast region: A31 Ringwood Road Widening and A34 Technology Enhancements;
  • Northwest region: M6 Junction 19 Improvements.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Senior Vice President Buildings and Infrastructure Bob Duff stated, “These important schemes are central to improving route capacity and future capability. This award builds on our long established relationship with Highways England and underlines Jacobs’ position as a leading highways designer. I am delighted we are able to continue to contribute meaningfully to the roads investment program and help Highways England take the next step towards making these schemes a reality.”

Highways England is the new government company charged with operating England’s motorways and major A roads. This includes modernizing and maintaining the highways, a network of around 4,300 miles.
