OREANDA-NEWS. PJSC ALROSA, the world leader in diamond mining, has introduced an innovation detection device for polished diamonds at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

As part of the measures to protect the natural diamond market from illegal mixing of natural and synthetic diamonds, ALROSA and the Federal State Bugetary Institution “Technological Institute for Superhard and Novel Carbon Materials” have developed a series of innovation devices for detecting polished diamonds and diamond jewelry.

The device can identify natural polished diamonds, polished diamonds manufactured from synthetic and treated diamonds, non-diamond imitations (simulants), such as cubic zirconia, moissanite, and others.

The device is easy to use and requires no special skills. It has two buttons, power and language (English/Russian). This compact device weighs less than 1.5 kg and can operate from a battery (including smartphone batteries), from a computer via USB, and from mains, 220V.
