OREANDA-NEWS. On April 02, 2007 Rosenergoatom representative have taken part in the conference on the results of the TACIS nuclear safety program held by Energoatom (Ukraine) and the European Commission in Kyiv on Mar 27-28, reported the press-centre of  Rosenergoatom. The conferees heard reports by representatives of the European Commission and its scientific advisor JRC as well as by the management of Energoatom and Ukrainian NPPs. Special attention was paid to the preparation of a new EC nuclear safety cooperation program for 2007-2013. The conferees exchanged their views concerning the future program. Rosenergoatom and Energoatom expressed wish to conduct a joint seminar on the results of the TACIS program.


Russia and Ukraine operate NPPs of similar designs. That’s why they both are interested in exchanging opinions on the TACIS program. Since 1991 the TACIS program has provided Energoatom with assistance and services worth 171mln EUR, including equipment for Ukrainian NPPs worth 70mln EUR. In Russia the TACIS program is aimed at enhancing nuclear safety at Rosenergoatom NPPs and at some other facilities of Rosatom. Presently, the program is carrying out 50 projects worth 80mln EUR. Rosenrgoatom and Energoatom have a cooperation agreement signed in 2000. They cooperate in the scientific-technical sphere. Experts say that the cooperation is quite effective.
