OREANDA-NEWS. On February 11, 2007 Ukio bankas and VsI Pazaislio muzikos festivalis signed a partnership agreement. Under this 2-year agreement, the Bank undertakes to give financial support to one of Lithuania’s most important music festivals, reported the press-centre of Ukio bankas.

“Pazaislis Music Festival is one of the most famous events of classical music in Lithuania and, therefore, by supporting it Ukio bankas pursues an important mission of culture. We would like this recognized and valuable festival of music to be a multi-year part of Lithuania’s cultural life,” Edita Karpaviciene, chairwoman of Ukio bankas Board, said.

“We are happy that Ukio bankas contributes to the aim of Pazaislis Music Festival organizers to popularize classical music, introduce new works by Lithuanian composers to the audience, present professional musical companies, soloists and conductors of foreign countries and promote an international cultural dialogue,” Justinas Krepsta, coordinator of Pazaislis Music Festival, said. In his words, during the summertime the festival enlivens the cultural life of Lithuania and increases the interest of Kaunas residents and guests in the novelties of classical music.

Pazaislis Music Festival has been appreciated not only by crowds of its audience but also the Council of Europe experts, musical critics and the festival’s participants. The aim of this musical event is to unite music lovers of different ages and possibilities, having different tastes and interests who will definitely find something interesting for them in the concert schedule. This traditional event is accessible to every music fan, and a number of free concerts are given in the spaces of churches.

This is not the first cultural project actively co-sponsored by Ukio bankas. “The cooperation of business and art can produce perfect results: introduction of artists of worldwide recognition to the general public and fostering of the cultural area of Lithuania,” Mrs. Karpaviciene said.

The nearest Pazaislis Music Festival will be held from 1 June to 31 August 2008.
