OREANDA-NEWS. On 22 April 2008 was announced, that six multilevel parking garages are to be built in Zapadnoe Degunino, north Moscow.

“Three parking garages for 100 cars are planned to be placed at Korovinskoe Highway near the new buildings,” a press service of the northern administrative district of Moscow said.

According to the source, another three multilevel garages designed to have 780, 206 and 100 parking places will appear on Taldomskaya Street and Pyalovskaya Street. The largest parking garage among the stated will have a sport and fitness centre.

The city authorities of Moscow plan to erect 16 large car parks in various areas of Moscow in 2009-2010.

As the city government predicted, a number of private vehicles in Moscow will rise to 2.879 million. At the same time the provision of Muscovites with parking lots will equal 40 per cent below the norm. Currently only 46 per cent of the car owners in Moscow are provided with parking lots.

According to State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Moscow Main Department of Internal Affairs, 2.641 million private vehicles were registered in the city by the end of 2007.
