OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2008. Exports of Moldovan spirits increased thrice in January-March 2008, from 14 mln 860,7 thousand USD up to 44 mln 126,7 thousand USD, show data of Moldova-Vin Agroindustrial Agency.

During this period, the exports on the CIS market, which is further the main market in the region for the Moldovan products, amounted to 37 mln 743,0 thousand USD, by 3,6 times up against the similar period of last year.

According to the Agency data, the Moldovan wine exports to Ukraine increased practically twice and amounted to 13 mln 204,4 thousand USD; Russia 10 mln 767,4 thousand USD; Belarus 11 mln 40,6 thousand USD (up by 6,4 times); Azerbaijan 823,5 thousand USD (up by 127 times); Georgia 336,5 thousand USD (up by 15,5 times).

Also, the exports to the European Community increased by 55% amounting to 5 mln 822,5 thousand USD. The biggest importer of Moldovan wine products was Poland with a volume of 2 mln 304,2 thousand USD or by 2,1 times more than during the same period last year.

The second and the third places in terms of imports of spirits belong to Romania and Czech Republic, with 1 mln 436 USD (+83%) and 643,7 thousand USD (+81%) respectively.

Also, important stocks of wine products were exported to Germany (485,9 thousand USD), Estonia (181,6 thousand USD, Lithuania (116,8 thousand USD), Greece (45,4 thousand USD) and Ireland (21,8 thousand USD).

Moldova-Vin Agroindustrial Agency notes that the exports outside the CIS and European Community have also grown significantly in countries such as the USA (221 thousand USD) and China (106, thousand USD). At the same time, during the first quarter of this year, the exports to Turkey were resumed and the first supplies were done to South Korea and Congo (Zaire).
