OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2008. In January-April, 2008, the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) handled 3.38 million tonnes, the company informs. In the reported period, transshipment of oil cargo amounted to 2.764.8 million tonnes, other cargo - 13,700 tonnes. Transshipment of ferry cargo made 74,900 tonnes. Transshipment of metal goods exceeded 488,900 tonnes, goods - 44,900 tonnes.

The port of Aktau is located at the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. It is the only seaport of Kazakhstan to serve international transportation of dry cargo, oil and oil products. The port works all-the-year-round. The port may accept vessels with length of up to 150 meters and breadth of up to 20 meters, with draft not exceeding 6.2 meters.
