OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 July 2008 was announced, that Zvenigorodskoe Highway is to become free of traffic lights on the section from 3rd Silikatny Proezd to the MKAD when the reconstruction is completed in late 2008. It was declared by Aleksander Levchenko, first deputy head of Department of City-Planning Policy, Development and Reconstruction of Moscow, during a regular conference at the office in charge of building Zvenigorodskoe Highway.

According to the official, a section of Zvenigorodskoe Highway from the MKAD to Zhivopisnaya Street has been constructed almost entirely. Zvenigorodsky Tunnel has been built and commissioned. Zhivopisny cable-braced bridge over the Moskva River has been erected.

A section of the highway from Zhivopisnaya Street to 3rd Silikatny Proezd including an interchange on Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street, a section from an overpass on Zvenigorodskoe Highway to MIBC Moskva-City and an interchange at the intersection of Novorizhskoe Highway and the MKAD is currently under construction. A section on Begovaya Street and a section from Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street to Sadovoe Ring Road are being developed.

The section from Zhivopisnaya Street to 3rd Silikatny Proezd is to become a traffic lights free highway with roughly 14 underground passages. A tunnel is to be constructed at the intersection of Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street and Marshala Zhukova Avenue. “A section of Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street will be constructed under a carriageway of Marshala Zhukova Avenue. In the issue we will get a complicated interchange with a lot of vehicles moving to Krylatskoe and Mnevniki,” Mr Levchenko added. Besides, the exit roads to Leningradskoe Highway, Mnevniki and the centre of Moscow are to be erected here.

Mr Levchenko said the section from Zhivopisny bridge to Silikatny Proezd was to be commissioned by the end of 2008.

The construction and reconstruction of Zvenigorodskoe Highway is fully financed by the city. The contractors are Ingeokom, ARKS (pipelines and networks), SU-802 (road works).
