OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2008. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has made a special statement on the occasion of impact of the situation in the region on oil export.

The statement says that in connection with failure on Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline segment in Turkey Azeri oil is being exported via alternate routes.

“Export of Azeri oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is carried normally. In addition, Azeri oil and petroleum products are exported by rail,” the statement says.

Thereby, SOCAR disavowed the reports about stoppage of export through Georgia as export by rail is conducted via Baku-Batumi route.

At the same time Transneft serving Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline part in Russia stated that following August oil pumping will make 166,000 tons versus 83,000 in July. SOCAR asked from Transneft to increase pumping by 83,000 tons of the July indicator.

There is not possibility for more substantial growth of pumping as the pipeline is under technical repairs.
