OREANDA-NEWS  On 16 October was announced, that vehicular traffic on the 5.5km section of Varshavskoe Highway from the MKAD to Shcherbinka city of the Moscow region will be launched by the end of 2008.

“We couldn’t build a road on the area owned by The 21st Century State Farm – this is 14km – but it isn’t a matter of principle. Traffic on Varshavskoe Highway from the MKAD to Shcherbinka is to be launched by the end of the year,” Pyotr Aksyonov, first deputy head of Department of Urban Design Policy, Development and Reconstruction of Moscow, emphasized.

The third stage of the reconstruction of Varshavskoe Highway is the most complicated in engineering terms as a new tunnel under the line to Kursk of Moscow Railways is being built.

Traffic on the first section of Varshavskoe Highway with the length of 3km from the MKAD to Melitopolskaya Street was launched in early September, by City Day of Moscow. The road within this section has 4 lanes in both directions.

The second stage included the widening of the 2.5km road from Melitopolskaya Street to Shcherbinka has been almost completed. Traffic on this section of Varshavskoe Highway is to be launched by the end of October.
