OREANDA-NEWS. On October 15, 2008 A new brand - Vega - was presented in the Ukrainian telecommunications market. Farlep-Optima Telecom Group managed by Farlep-Invest will work under this new common brand, reported the press-centre of SCM Group.

Vega will be a single umbrella brand, under which all companies within Farlep-Optima Group (the biggest telecommunications groups in Ukraine – Farlep, Optima Telecom, DCS and other telecom businesses) will operate. The Group is the largest private (alternative) provider in the fixed line market. The operator belongs to the telecommunication business area of SCM Group.

The chief benefits of the provider united by Vega brand include the national coverage, all-in-all services (everything from one source), Internet access speed and high quality of services.

Telecommunications group Vega has the full range of licenses to provide fixed-line services across Ukraine: local, trunk and international calls. It can also lease communication channels.

Triple play fixed-line services comprising voice communications, internet, and TV are a focus of development plans. The quality will be guaranteed through optic-fibre networks to the building (FTTB). FTTB network architecture helps install a channel of up to 10Gbyte/sec. in each flat. MPLS network is under construction between cities to prioritize data transmission in real time in dependence of their type (voice, video, data and internet-traffic).

Vega operates in 17 Ukrainian regions today. The network of the united operator covers all cities with 1 million or more citizens (Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lvov, Odessa and Kharkov) as well as 36 towns. The telecom group plans to expand the network to all regional centres of Ukraine in 2009.

Construction of the national backbone network and access fibre networks is a priority for the provider.  Investment in 2006 and 2007 made UAH 470m and is projected to amount to over UAH 270m this year.

Vega was established following integration of the companies that belonged to Farlep-Optima Telecommunication Group . It is the biggest fixed-line provider in Ukraine with the market share of over 8%. Farlep – Optima Group  was established in 2005 following integration of two largest telecommunication groups in Ukraine - Farlep and Optima Telecom, as well as other telecommunication companies. The integrated operator is a part of the telecommunication business of SCM Group.
