OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2008. A scheduled press business-club meeting took place in Information Agency’s “Росбалт” Baltic region representative office. The agenda of the meeting was “How does world economics crisis affect economic of Latvia”, reported the press-centre of Baltic International Bank.
 
Representatives of the government, academic and private sectors participated in the discussion. Baltic International Bank representative also took part in the discussion by the round table.

During the conversation there were discussed causes, step-by-step development of the crisis and activities of the government aimed at economics stabilization. The participants of the round table analyzed specifics of the crisis, and correlated it with the current economical situation in Latvia, as well as defined some crisis consequences minimization possibilities. 

Summarizing the results of the discussion, participants came to agree that we should expect global structural changes in economy, in world community lifestyle and way of thinking. The prosperous speculative economics model has worked itself out: financial markets showed their inability for self-regulating. Now, the new sources and methods are needed for world economy optimization.
