OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2008.  Russian industrial exhibition “Expo-Russia 2008 Armenia” will take place in Yerevan (Armenia) Oct 31-Nov 2 2008.

The exhibition is being organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Embassy of Russia in Armenia, the Embassy of Armenia in Russia, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, other governmental and commercial organizations of Russia and Armenia.

Atomenergoprom is planning to present the capacities of Russia’s nuclear industry: detailed information about Atomenergoprom OJSC, a holding consolidating the companies of Russia’s civil nuclear sector, Russia’s plans to build nuclear power plants in its own territory and abroad, Russian-Armenian cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Uranium Holding ARMZ (Atomredmetzoloto), Armenian-Russian Mining Company and other companies having close ties with Armenia will take part in the exhibition.

The office of the Russian-Armenian joint venture for uranium prospecting, mining and processing “Armenian-Russian Mining Company” was opened in Yerevan in Sept 2008. The founders are Atomredmetzoloto and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia.

The company is supposed to prospect uranium in the territory of Armenia and to mine and process mineral resources.

Armenia and Russia are actively developing their cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. Armenia is presently undergoing necessary procedures to join the International Uranium Processing Center in Angarsk. The countries are jointly enhancing the efficiency of the 2nd unit of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. Russia is ready to take part in the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia.

The business program of the exhibition includes an international conference “Russia-Armenia: Economic Cooperation” as well as meetings with representatives of ministries, visits to Armenia’s leading industrial companies, roundtables.
