OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2008.  Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant has completed the overhaul of the 1st unit. The unit was restarted on Oct 28 – 5 days ahead of schedule.

The maintenance personnel have refueled the reactor, inspected and repaired the reactor and turbine equipment, tested the metal of the reactor shell and pipelines, repaired safety systems. They have carried out a total of 5,000 operations.

Presently, the 1st unit is operating at a capacity of 600MW.

As of now, all three units of Kalinin NPP are operating safely at a total capacity of 2,671MW.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm.
