OREANDA-NEWS. On October 29, 2008 An issue of increase of container transit in Ukraine is being solved at the account of modernization of operation of ports, Minister of Transport and Communications Yosyp Vinsky announced in Kirovohrad.

“The railway can ensure container transit to the amount not less than one and a half million containers annually.

The principal problematic issue remains transshipping spots, meaning ports,” Yosyp Vinsky said.

According to the Minister nowadays container transit going via the ports of Odessa region totals 1 million 200 thousand containers a year. Y.Vinsky stressed that within the Ministry a working panel is set up which deals with elaborating a blueprint on modernization of operation of ports to increase container transit.

The Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine also imparted that the Ministry has readied a project of creating a container terminal to the turn of around 200 million hryvnyas in Odessa port area.

Besides, a transport infrastructure is to be prepared to guarantee operation of the object.
