OREANDA-NEWS. On October 23, 2008 the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) singed an order to form the FAS Russia's Expert Council on developing competition in information technology, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Council will comprise experts of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the relevant discipline, representatives of the federal and regional executive bodies as well as representatives of research organizations, associations, non-governmental organizations and companies - players on the market of information technologies.

The goals of the Expert Council are facilitating development of the IT market, preventing and suppressing monopolistic activities on the market, examining compliance of the governmental agencies with the antimonopoly legislation, related to the IT industry, as well as devising proposals and recommendations on improving the legislation and governmental control for IT.

The FAS Russia's Expert Council will meet as necessary to discuss important issues involving the interested parties. The Council's decisions will have significant impact upon the decisions of the Russian antimonopoly bodies for the IT market.
