OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2009. In 2008, stevedoring company Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 6.621.3 million tonnes of cargo (+2.2%, year-on-year), the company reports.

In the reported period, export fell by 3.3%, year-on-year, to 3.028.4 million tonnes including 1.417.5 million tonnes of timber (-21.1%), 687,500 tonnes of coal (+18.2%), 732,100 tonnes of ferrous metal (+34.9%) and 124,100 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (-17.5%).

In 2008 the company handled 1.453.2 million tonnes of import cargo (+31%, year-on-year) including 1.147.5 million tonnes of ore (+ 9.7%).

Transshipment of coastal trade cargo (excluding Vonino-Kholmsk ferry link) amounted to 377,000 tonnes (+1.3%). The ferry complex handled 1.762.7 million tonnes of cargo (-5.5%).

The port’s container throughput amounted to 29,593 TEU (+16 %).

In January-December 2008 the port handled 1,703 vessels including 779 ferries and 77,500 wagons.

Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR
