OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2009. In 2008, Iljichevsk Commercial Seaport (Ukraine) handled 18.9 million tonnes of cargo (+18%, year-on-year), the company reports.

In the reported period, transshipment of general cargo grew by 22% to 10.8 million tonnes including 2.9 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+16%), 1.5 million tonnes of cast iron (+89%). The port’s container throughput increased by 26% to 670,556 TEU. Turnover of ro-ro cargo amounted to 253,676 units (over 2-fold).

Transshipment  of liquid bulk cargo totaled 1.4 million tonnes (-19%, year-on-year)with oil products accounting for 586,000 tonnes (+39%).

In the 12-month period the port handled 6.6 million tonnes of dry bulk (+24%) including 2.3 million tonnes of grain (+58%) and 1.7 million tonnes of sulfur (+83%).

Iljichevsk Commercial Seaport (Ukraine, Odessa region) has been operating from 1958. The port’s territory is 346 hectares, berth length is 5.4 km. Area of covered storage space is 54.2 thou m2, open storage space – 743.94 thou m2. The port accepts vessels with up to 13 m of draft. No limits as regards length of the vessels. Average depth near the port is 13.5 m, which enable it to serve the vessels of almost any deadweight.
