OREANDA-NEWS. March 2, 2009. The Japanese government allocated almost USD 400,000 to several hospitals of the Gomel oblast to purchase medical equipment.

The Japanese diplomatic mission is implementing a programme of the Japanese government ‘Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects’. In line with this programme, Japan will finance the purchase of medical equipment for Bragin central regional hospital (USD 85,200), Loev hospital (USD 74,700), Elsk hospital (USD 80,900), Buda-Koshelev hospital (USD 76,500) and Gomel children’s hospital (USD 69,600).

The contracts will be signed in Buda-Koshelev central regional hospital and Gomel oblast children’s hospital on March 6, in Elsk hospital on March 10, in Bragin and Loev hospitals on March 13.

According to the diplomatic mission, nine projects have already been implemented since ‘Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects’ was launched. Medical equipment worth USD 679,600 was purchased for the hospitals located in the Chernobyl affected areas.
