OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2009. In January-February 2009, seaport Kavkaz (Krasnodar Territory, Sea of Azov) handled 860,910 tonnes. In the reported period the port handled 514,980 tonnes of oil products and 239,560 tonnes of general cargo. Throughput of rail ferry in port Kavkaz totaled 340,370 tonnes (-2.8%).

Port Kavkaz is situated at the border of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov at Kerch Strait from the side of Russia. The port is ice-free, so it is able to handle both river vessels (draft of up to 5 meters) and sea vessels (off-harbor handling of vessels with a draft of up to 11 meters). The territory of the port is crossed by a 2,600-meter long railway line. The port handles loose cargo, as well as general cargo and timber.
