OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2009. In 2010 ZiO Podolsk will finish the construction of reactor equipment of new generation (BN-800, 800MW fast-breeder reactor) for Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant, Chief Engineer of the plant Viktor Konevskikh said during a press-conference today.

“In 2010 the reactor equipment will be ready but we will continue the construction of additional systems,” Konevskikh said.

ZiO Podolsk is producing equipment – steam generators, separators — for the new nuclear reactors that are presently being built at Novovoronezh and Leningrad NPPs and will be built at Kaliningrad NPP. Today, almost half of the company’s products are manufactured for the nuclear industry.

Presently, the company is executing an investment project to enlarge its output to 3–4 sets of equipment for nuclear power plants a year. By 2015 ZiO is planning to invest 2.9bln RUR (both own and borrowed money) in its production.

Despite the crisis, ZiO’s products are still in high demand in the traditional energy sector. The plant manufactures equipment for Bovanenkovo-Ukhta and North European gas pipelines, fabricates waste heat boilers for Mosenergo and carries out defense contracts.
