OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2009. Development of the hazard caution system can mitigate the risk for the spacecraft to collide with the space debris. This was stated by Nikolay Ivanov, MCC Ballistics Chief, in his interview to Rossiiskaya Gazeta.

He says that there are "more than 13,000 objects of more than 20- 30cm size fly in space. Onle 7% of them are spacecraft. The rest is garbage".

"There are millions of small "crunches" sized less than 1 cm. But these small things are very dangerous. Collision speed in space is very high- up to 10-15kmh. So, the small crunch can become a loaded track".
