OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2009. The Gazprom Headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of the Kaluga Oblast.

The meeting addressed the status of the bilateral Cooperation Agreement as well as the implementation of gasification activities scheduled for the current year. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of building the new and re-constructing the existing gasification facilities.

Background:

The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Kaluga Oblast Administration was signed in November 2001, the Gasification Accord – in February 2002.

In 2008 Gazprom supplied the Oblast with some 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas. Supplies for this year are slated in excess of 1.8 billion cubic meters.

Natural gas penetration in the Kaluga Oblast totals 70.3 per cent including 84.4 per cent in cities and towns and 35.4 per cent in rural area. The identical figures throughout Russia average 62, 67 and 44 per cent respectively.

From 2003 to 2008 Gazprom invested RUB 2.22 billion to gasify the Kaluga Oblast. In particular, RUB 500 million was committed in 2008 for these purposes – to launch four new inter-settlement pipelines and to keep building 19 ones. This year the Company will continue the construction of 20 inter-settlement pipelines with the total length of 197.6 km.
