OREANDA-NEWS. On July 7 residents of the villages of Ryadsky, Brusovsky and Yremkovsky of Udomlia district met with representatives of the general designer of Tver Nuclear Power Plant and Energoatom Concern OJSC.

The meeting is a preparation for the July 8 public hearings on the environmental impact assessment of the construction and operation of Tver NPP.

The members of the organizing committee of the hearings – Director of the Design and Construction Office of Energoatom Concern OJSC Valery Novak, Deputy Chief Engineer of Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt OJSC Konstantin Leontyev, Chief Engineer of the Department for the Construction of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant Alexander Barinov – answered questions concerning different aspects of the  Tver NPP project.

Novak said that the project to be implemented in Udomlia is already being applied at Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Leningrad NPP-2.  It has undergone all necessary examinations. “This is a reactor of generation III+ — the most modern of the existing reactors meeting all Russian and international safety and economy requirements.”

In the end of the discussion, the residents of Udomlia district said that they did not object to the construction of the plant and that they realized that the nuclear business was socially responsible.
