OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 July 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ fruit and vegetable juice imports decreased 50% on the year in January-May 2009, to 11,228 tonnes worth U.S. USD 14.71 million, down 37.5% on the year in monetary terms, the Statistics Ministry told.

Russian juice imports were down 2.1 times on the year to 5,159 tonnes, which cost USD 5.324 million, an decrease of 2.1 times.

Imports from Ukraine decreased 3 times on the year in January-May 2009 to 1,888 tonnes worth USD 1.832 million, a decline by 2.4 times.

The main non-CIS suppliers were Israel with 2,324 tonnes, up 8.1%, worth USD 4.257 million, up 2.6%, and Germany with 424 tonnes, down 8.8%, worth USD 533,000, up 9%. Imports from Brazil rose 190% to 317 tonnes to the amount of USD 677,000, up 160%.
